Solution: My Blackberry is typing in Arabic
I recently touched something on my blackberry and from that point on, it would only type in Arabic characters. Very confusing.
Here is how to fix it.
First, it appears that the keyboard “shortcut” I touched to make this start happening was ALT+ENTER, the first and last keys on the the third row down from the top on the keyboard. Apparently, that default is on for the 8X00 model Blackberries.
Get back to English characters.
To get back to the English characters, go to Options (the ‘wrench’ icon) then Language, then select “English (United States)” — or whatever is appropriate for you.
To turn off the shortcut:
Next, go to the bottom of that screen and change “Use Input Language Shortcut” to “No”.
You should be back in business.

i bought a blackberry here in the US. i have friends in other countries and they send me messages in arabic, which i cannot read because it just shows a bunch of squares. ive been looking everywhere for language packs that support arabic but none of them include arabic! im getting frustrated. the only website that works asks for a $10 fee. im only 15 and id rather not pay to be able to read arabic on my bb. can anyone help me? i have a blackberry curve 8330m from sprint, btw.
