All of a sudden the comment thread on my “Quality Review of a blurb photo book” has sprung back to life, and getting all sorts of comments. I’ll take this as anecdotal evidence that photo books are going to be popular gifts this year!
I know I am working on my annual photo album that goes to all the grandparents and great-grandparents. Each year around this time I start to get hints about how excited they are to see this year’s book.

Hey Mike, thanks for the review of the Blurb book. We just made our first and ordered copies for Moms, grandmothers, and aunts last night. We’re really excited to see the quality that we’ve heard about.
My wife read on the ILP forums that color covers on the hardbacks don’t come out well and to use B&W on the cover. Is that true, in your experience?

Hi Steve, I have only ordered blurb book with full color covers. I’ve been extremely pleased with the print quality of the covers — in the link in the post you can see some pictures of the cover.

Thanks to your detailed book review, I’m currently in the process of creating my first blurb book, which will be a belated christmas present for my family-in-law. When my fiance saw the first 16-page preview, he literally cried. :) I can’t thank you enough for providing such detail in your review that I was willing to drop the whole project over at panraven.com and start it entirely from scratch at blurb!
BTW - I run an ink and toner site (not live yet, but will be soon) and would be very interested in possibly advertising on your site. My ad would be more compact than Google Adsense and would be a set price paid up front, so please email me if you are interested. (I’d have sent this privately, but couldn’t find an email address.) You helped me with your review; maybe I can help you with those moderate site maintenance costs…? :)

The blurb book came out great. No problem with the cover at all, the color looks great, and we’re really pleased with how it came out.
