Picasa will store images on DVD, but only in a computer readable format — essentially as a disk drive. Many, but certainly not all DVD players can peek into the disk and allow you to view those photos. If you are looking for a bit more, and want to actually produce your own videos that can be burned to DVD that nearly any DVD player can play, then you’ll need something else.
Here are some software options for accomplishing just such a task:
1. Windows Movie Makers has a tutorial on making a video slide show using Windows Movie Maker .
2. Photodex has a product called PhotoShowGold — pricy at around $70 that claims “ProShow Gold 3.0 is the complete slide show software solution for sharing your best memories on DVD, PC, and the Web!”
3. Ulead has CD & DVD Picture Show that will do it for $29
4. VSO Software offers PhotoDVD is another package at around $24
5. I can’t confirm it, but I am told that Irfanview – which is free for non-commercial use will also create slideshows. Can any Irfanview user confirm this?
