Extending Picasa: Applejuice
Part of an ongoing series on web pages extensions in Picasa.
One of the really nice features in Picasa is the ability to add new Web Page Export formats. This gives you the ability to create really beautiful web galleries for your photos just by following a simple wizard.
Here is a template created by Scott Evans calle applejuice. Visit the applejuice site and download the template.
We have previously written up instructions for installing Picasa web Page Extensions. Use those instructions for getting the extension installed.
Also, previously we have seen how to publish your new Webpage using Picasa. Use those instructions to get Picasa all set to publish your new web page via FTP.
See it in action:
Hat tip to ZenMojo.com for directing us to this great extension.

Hi Mike — thanks for the mention! Looks like something’s a little weird with your sample’s HTML wrapper page though. If I hit applejuice.swf directly, everything’s fine, but the wrapper that you link to never gets past the “you need to upgrade your flash player” screen. Weird.
My pleasure, the extension is really cool. The wrapper thing is strange indeed. I just uploaded directly what came out of Picasa. I’m getting the same error text here. (When I run the local version it works great though….hmmm)
Maybe something weird in your server? When I do a view source, I notice that the page is delivered as one long line, which may cause a bit of browser confusion.
Great stuff, but you need to update your flash_detect.js to include version 9 of Adobe Flash. It currently reads 8, so I cannot see your gallery.
