From the Picasa Usenet Group: Avoiding Cropping in Enlargements

I’m a fairly regular contributor to the Picasa usenet group in Google Groups. Sometimes when I answer one I think is helpful to a wider group, I;ll highlight it here. — Mike

Sometimes I do have odd size of picture, such as panorama or square
(old camera) picture, which I would like to “zoom-in” or “zoom-out”
onto 4inch x 6inch format. I would not mind those white stripes
,horizontal or vertical, which would appear on the sides or top and
bottom of the resulting photo. How can I do it?

When on the Print Layout screen, click the “Shrink to Fit” button. The
whole image should them appear on the selected paper — with white
stripes around the image as necessary.
